Dimeric acid is a long-chain multifunctional group polymerized fatty acid, and the carboxyl groups of dimeric acid undergo various reactions at high temperatures. A common method is to react with amines to form amides. Dimeric acid usually contains trace amounts of monomeric fatty acids and a small amount of trimeric acid. Under certain temperature conditions, this product has stable performance, is non-toxic, non-volatile, has a high flash point and ignition point, and is not frozen at low temperatures. It also has relatively high viscosity and adhesion. Can dissolve in most organic solvents, but insoluble in water.
Main purpose:
A. The reaction between dimer acid and amine can generate various polyamides with different molecular weights, which are most commonly used in plastic gravure printing and flexographic printing inks.
B. The reaction between dimer acid and amine generates polyamide with active amine groups, which is widely used in two-component epoxy coatings and epoxy adhesives. The cured product has good mechanical and electrochemical properties.
C. Dimeric acid is also used in the production of hot melt adhesives, and the thermoplastic products it is used to produce are widely used in postal, telecommunications, communication, and cable industries.
In addition, dimer acids are also used to produce various low-temperature and low-pressure special lubricants, manufacture alkyd resins, and rust inhibitors for metalworking fluids.
